The SciTechatorium is a 1900 square foot "hands on" science museum and discovery room operated and maintained by the students Of Bellevue-Santa Fe Charter School, in Avila Beach, California. It not only serves as an educational classroom and exploratorium for the students of BSFCS, but also it is open to students and community groups for a nominal fee.
Our sixth grade students act as student curators whose responsibilities include: maintaining and improving the exhibits, caring for our live animal exhibits, helping others learn through active participation, greeting and escorting campus visitors.

The Exhibits

Botany and Dendrochronology - Tree ring analysis and pine cone identification.
Rocks and Minerals - Early California mining, hundreds of gem stones, minerals and volocanic ash...
Meteorology and Geology - volcanology, seismology, complete digital weather station, hurricane generator, cumulonimbus exhibit.
Paleobiology - Fossils
of both marine and terrestrial organisms. Dinosaur eggs, bones
and a full scale, museum quality Allosaurus skull

Zoology - Anatomical displays that include taxidermy and skeletal bones representing aviarian, reptilian, and mammalian specimens.
Live Exhibits - Reptiles (snakes and lizards), Arachnids ( spiders and tarantulas), Fish and marine invertabrates, Insects and Butterflies.
Anthropology - Stone age tools and primitive weapons of the Indio-Pacific, North America and Mesoamerica.
Space and Astronomy -
Space Shuttle heat shield, lasers, vacuum jar, plasma
generator, telescope.
Physics and Technology - Lasers, Solar cells, microprocessors, medical technology, Van de Graff generator
Audio / Video - Laser Disc, DVD and Surround Sound Theater Capabilities - relive the eruption of Mt. St. Helens and take a ride with the space shuttle....and many more.
